Weston Motor Club Autotests

Weston Motor club runs an average of one Autotest per month held on a Sunday and usually on a sealed surface venue. During the summer one or two Autotests are organised using a grass field venue.

Autotests are the cheapest and most basic form of Motorsport available, but are none the less very competetive. Most of the stars of Motorsport especially Rally drivers often began their careers with Autotests.

Autotests represent precision driving. The object of an Autotest is to negotiate a set course against the clock. Courses are marked out by traffic cones or pylons, which incorporate stopping astride lines, parking 4 wheels within in a marked box, turning 90,180,or 360 degrees around cones, spin turns, reverse flicks, etc. All must be committed to memory. Time penalties are incurred for touching cones, failing to stop astride lines, and taking the wrong route, these would be added to your time to complete the course. With an average of 8 tests per event all completed twice the winner will be the competitor who has the lowest aggregate time.

Autotests can be competed in with standard road going family saloons,There are also classes for short wheelbase cars such as Mini's and Modified Autotest Specials.
